Advancing Disability Inclusion Through Inclusive Digital Communications
Client: Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP)
Overview
In 2025, Sparkom partnered with the Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP), in collaboration with UNHCR and UNODC, to design and deliver inclusive communication and digital learning content promoting disability rights, prevention of violent extremism (PVE), and equitable access to digital services.
The initiative focused on making complex policy themes and digital tools accessible, usable, and engaging for persons with disabilities, as well as for government institutions, service providers, corporate professionals, and civil society actors. Central to the work was the promotion of inclusive platforms such as the Inclusion Academy, Equal Access App, and NOOR AI Chatbot, ensuring no one is left behind in the digital transformation agenda.
Our Approach
Sparkom adopted a universal design and accessibility-first communications approach, ensuring content was inclusive by design, not as an afterthought.
- Inclusive IEC Production: Developed 100+ inclusive IEC materials, including digital creatives, explainers, and awareness assets aligned with disability inclusion standards.
- Video Storytelling: Produced multiple inclusive videos highlighting disability rights, counter-narratives to violent extremism, and the role of digital tools in social inclusion.
- Digital Learning Content: Designed accessible social media content for the Inclusion Academy (https://inclusionacademy.online), supporting e-learning courses for professionals, government officials, corporate teams, and service providers.
- AI & Assistive Tech Content: Created simplified, inclusive content for the NOOR AI Chatbot, enabling persons with disabilities to access information independently and with dignity.
- Social Media Dissemination: Produced platform-specific organic content to amplify inclusion messaging and promote digital tools among diverse stakeholder groups.
Impact
- Mainstreamed Disability Inclusion: Ensured disability rights and accessibility were embedded across digital communications, not treated as standalone messaging.
- Strengthened Digital Accessibility: Supported adoption and awareness of inclusive digital tools such as the Equal Access App and NOOR AI Chatbot, improving information access for persons with disabilities.
- Capacity Building at Scale: Enabled professionals, government actors, and service providers to engage with inclusion-focused e-learning through the Inclusion Academy.
- PVE & Social Cohesion Messaging: Contributed to prevention of violent extremism efforts by promoting inclusive narratives that address marginalization and digital exclusion.
- Sustainable Content Assets: Delivered a large volume of reusable, accessible IEC and video content supporting long-term advocacy, training, and outreach.
- Institutional Credibility: Strengthened STEP, UNHCR, and UNODC’s ability to communicate complex inclusion and PVE themes with clarity, empathy, and impact.
